Libraries in the Ore Mountains

This booklet is the first collective work of The Municipal library Litvinov and The Municipal library Olbernhau which established cooperation in 1998. The cooperation was established with financial support from Phare. Though the library system is little bit different on the both sides of the border we have an opportunity to compare. This publication offers information about the history of libraries, statistical data and sometimes even curiosities. At the end of each part about the particular library there is an interesting text about the legend about the town where the library is situated or the legend about its nearest surroundings.

Don't write in a drawer - The Anthology of literary and art work of students in primary and secondary schools in Litvinov

The publication was officially presented on 28th November 2001 as part of the celebration of the 95th anniversary of establishing the library. The booklet is divided into a number of chapters. The most extensive chapter contains Childrens' works on any topic related to a library and books. Another chapter has the title Does the book have a future? In this chapter children think about whether the book will last the impact of competition in the form of modern technology, e. g. television or internet. After that there are chapters: What should the library look like, Me and books, What a book means to me and A book like a friend of man. The texts blend together works of art and a library topic as well. A great idea is a collection of pictures Proverbs in a different way. There is also a special art chapter named 'Design of the logo of The Urban Library Litvinov'. The Library announced a competition and readers voted for the best 3 logos whose designers were given prizes. These logos decorate each department. The publication was printed in 300 copies and every person who contributed to that booklet was given a copy. The booklet was also sent to schools, offices, county libraries and regional media.
